How To Remove Mold And Mildew

If your basement has started to develop mold and mildew, try not to panic. There are a few home mold removal remedies that may be able to fix the problem. Some mold removal methods consist of the following:

  • Try taking a bucket of warm water and mix it with some bleach. For every gallon of water you use, add one cup of bleach. Then take a bristled brush, dip it, and scrub the affected area thoroughly. If the area is hard to reach, you can put the mixture in a spray bottle.
  • Apply some undiluted vinegar to the affected area. Take a brush and wash the area well. White vinegar and apple cider vinegar have been known to be eighty percent effective at removing mold and mildew.
  • Create a solution using borax and water. Take a brush and scrub the area aggressively. Tag a rag and wipe away and excess borax. Borax does not give off any toxic fumes and should be effective at removing mold.
  • You can also make different solutions using ammonia or baking soda. Both of these materials are good at removing some extra tough fungus.

If you are not facing any kind of problem with mold or mildew, make sure to take precautionary action. Check for any wall leaks and make sure that any kind of plumbing and piping is secure and leak free. Making sure you are doing everything you can to prevent it from growing is key.

If the mold removal treatments listed above are not working or you have a large amount of mold, call a specialist right away.
